Oh gosh. How I hate Panera Bread right about now.
Wait no. How I hate my hungry stomach yesterday, that didn't give that poor meal a second chance. I was starving. grr!
I love Panera Bread-as do most of Americans.
Yesterday, the wonderful hubster had shoulder surgery. *not pretty at all*.
We were at the hospital bright & early for surgery and everything went well. He had to have surgery on his rotator cuff, a cyst, and a bit of corrosion on the underlying tissue. All in all, the Doc said he would be just fine, in a ton of pain, but fine.
My friend Mila, who was so amazing yesterday because she went there bright & early to the hospital and sat with me, talked, drank coffee, and pretty much kept me company, took me for lunch at Panera Bread.
I ordered what I always order: The "You Pick 2" order w/a green tea. BTW: They have the best Green Tea on the Planet. (I am currently craving it.)
I ordered a Broccoli Cheddar Soup in a bread bowl, 1/2 a chipotle chicken sandwich, and baked chips. Usually I take the chips and 1/2 sandwich to go and eat the soup, but unfortunately since I hadn't eaten a snack, I ate it all like there was no tomorrow.
Bad Choice. Really bad choice.
I was in so much pain 2 hours later. That was a ton of carbs for my usually-not-eating-carbs tummy. The 1/2 sandwich has about 420 calories, 36g Carbs, and 26g of Protein. That's a meal in itself! The Soup (1 cup in bread bowl) has 190 calories, 8g Protein, and 16g carbs. Great Lunch or dinner meal, except that the Sodium is off the charts w/a banging 1020 mg of Sodium. Ouch. The Green Tea is 90 calories... at least it's better than a Starbucks Frappe. Either way, yesterday in one meal b/c of my hunger I consumed:
- Sandwich: 420 cal
- Soup: 190 cal w/bread bowl est: another 100 cal = 290 cal
- 3 Green Teas: 90 x 3= 270 cal. (all that sodium made me thirsty!)
- Chips=150 cal
- Total= 1,130 calories!!!!!!
Oh. My. Gosh!
Thanks a lot hungry stomach and Panera Bread! Wowzers!
Almost my whole daily calorie intake in one meal.
You see, even I make mistakes even though I've changed my diet over a year ago. and I make big ones apparently. Within an hour I was completely bloated. Today I am still bloated, and I gained 3 pounds. Not. cool. at. all. We have to also be really careful with what we think is "healthy." That meal looks healthy, and many people might not realize that a soup, 1/2 a chicken sandwich, and a bag of baked chips was over 1000 calories. Never would've thunk it!
So, moral of the story. Eat right. Ask the server to box up half the meal beforehand to prevent overeating, drink water before you get to the restaurant in order to prevent hunger from taking over, and eat a snack! I was starving because I hadn't prepared a snack for me 2-3 hours after my breakfast.

Something good did happen yesterday, we went to Target (to walk it off) and I found this sweater. It was only $12 on clearance. I wasn't going to shop, but unfortunately, one of my friends gave me a wool/polyester sweater that I decided to wear that day, and didn't realize til' after 2 hours that I was allergic to wool/polyester/bad choice of fabric combinations. It was making me itchy and rashy, and it doesn't matter how cute it looks, if it's bad/itchy fabric, it will irritate you. Period.
It's super cozy & warm, and in a lighter brown/creme color and I've been wearing it all morning and will probably wear it all day, and all week. Great purchase.
Also, we went by BestBuy to window shop for iPad's. Me and my hubby really want one, but first things first, get debt-free. We are paying off everything we owe and when we have cash, not credit, we are going to buy each other an iPad. :)
Well, time to sleep. I just gave the hubster his meds and since he woke me up every few hours b/c of his pain, I am going to join him in a morning siesta.
In case I don't post tomorrow, it will be because I am exhausted from playing nurse but I will post an outfit of the day hopefully Monday, if not Tuesday (first day of classes).
