Men's Shirt Pattern: McCall's M6044

I bought this gorgeous mint fabric for my hubby (@Joann's) about a month and a half ago, and it has been sitting there for that long (I know, sad) before I picked it up and decided to finally make him a shirt. It is the first men's shirt that I have ever made and I am going to make a lot more. Seriously this pattern, McCall's M6044, is easy. It's simple in its directions and even in the markings that you need to put on the fabric. The only place I had some trouble with during the sewing process was putting the sleeve on the underarm because the sleeve is wider (due to ease) and so you have to ease it into the shoulder. Besides that, it's easy-piesy! The pattern has 5/8" seam allowance and it doesn't tell you to surge so you don't need to have one. I did serge and I flat felled whenever I could, like on the shoulders. It took me all day to sew it with some off and on breaks here & there. But, hubby loved it and my son wanted one too so he chose a red gingham fabric that he wants for his shirt.

The pattern has five different designs (or ways) to make it. I made shirt B (the one that is all one solid color). I also opted to not put a button right on the collar stand or a buttonhole. It looked nicer. Plus, to make it easier, I also didn't add a button or buttonhole on the cuff because 1. My husband always rolls up the sleeves and 2. I didn't have time. It was midnight on Saturday and he wanted to wear it Sunday morning. I added 7/8" buttons because I thought it would give them a more Summery feel and a uniqueness that you don't really find in men's shirts.
Here are the pictures! Let me know what you think! Hubby and I loved it:)

And here is what I wore:) Of course, I've worn it before but it is one I made and posted about HERE. I added a lace cami under, a vintage baby blue belt, and my bright yellow w/white polka-dot wedges that I got at Shriek in Houston, TX a few years ago. The orange beaded earrings (made of tiny, tiny beads clumped and braided together) are vintage.

By the way, hubby and I just celebrated our 6 yr wedding anniversary! How awesome is that?! So happy! I just love this man. He truly is my best friend and my soul mate:)
