Teal Time

I found this dress at Target yesterday and I loved it, oh and it was on clearance for 70% off, so that made me love it even more. I love bright colors and it's perfect for days like today when it is so darn hot & humid out. I wore the same shoes I wore on my last OOTD that I also got at Target. Seriously, they are so darn comfortable. I can walk around campus in them and my feet will not hurt at all. I also saw some burnt orange ones that I really want but they were still $17 something and only 30% off. I will get them once they go down to 70% off:) These babies were only $7.48! The great things about shoes is that you can still wear them even though your belly is expanding when preggers. Unless, your feet get swollen:(

Feeling the 50's

This weekend feels like it flew by! Is it truly Monday tomorrow or can it be Sunday #2? I wish. Back to 6am wake up calls and early bedtimes. The second week of school begins in just 24 hrs. At least my schedule is not too bad. I have two classes a day except for one day, and an online class that I take three times a week, but other than that, my schedule is very lenient this semester. More hours, but less chaotic than usual. Even in my honors classes my professors have told us that we are not allowed to stress over our work because it is more of a discussion during class and not much homework based. How awesome is that? Especially knowing I'm pregnant and I have been needing a nap every day. Pure awesomeness!
Anyways, this is what I wore today. I was very inspired by the 50's. I wore this lace top from Charlotte Russe and this thrifted, vintage, polka dot skirt. I paired it with a hunter green belt with a gold chain, my purple and dark gold bracelet, and my new bright colored wedges from Target.
What do you think? I can't wait until  the weather cools down so I can layer with a jacket! How cute would a hot pink or a blue jacket look on top of this? Gorgeous!
Oh, and you can't tell, but this skirt is full of pleats all the way around!

by the way, we are at week 8! :)
Yes to all of the above except no weird dreams. Also, my nausea has been at a 1/2 on a scale of 1-10. So that is great! :) Oh and yes, I've turned into a bloodhound, I can smell everything! Anyways, can't wait to see what happens next with this pregnancy!

Coral & Polka Dots

Today was my second day of school and I only had a couple classes which is really nice. Plus, the morning  was so nice and cool and I could've worn a cardigan but I didn't, which was good because by the time I came out of my class it was already getting pretty warm. There is a cute cardigan that I found at the bookstore on campus in a thin cotton fabric with some stretch that is all grey with an MSU logo on the right. I loved it. I might go back and get it for the fall.
Anyways, this is what I wore today. I bought this dress at TJ Maxx and my new satchel for school is Steve Madden. I love it! It's perfect enough to fit my binder, book, and any notebooks for class. Because I have only one class in the AM and then I can go home I'm able to wear heels to class. I can always change it later for the next class:)

I am so glad that all these dresses I bought will work when I'm preggers! I might just add shorts or leggings under because it will get shorter, but besides that, I think it will work:)

Btw: Baby is 7 weeks this week. This is what it looks like:
Baby, fetus at 7 weeks - BabyCenter
We are currently calling the baby "Baby Boo" because my six year old son said he thought we should call it Baby Boo if it's a girl. LOL. Why Baby Blue? Because of the movie Monsters Inc. with the cute little girl! lol. So, Baby Boo it is. Hee-Hee. Also, I found out that I can't have chicken or coffee. The things I love most. I get queasy when I eat them and now I get disgusted thinking about it. So it looks like it will be seafood and veggies from now on. Which I'm okay with. Anyways, that is the baby update:)

There's a baby in my belly!

Hi everyone! I know I haven't blogged in the past couple of weeks but I took a much needed vacation with my family to Texas, and since we were gone I wasn't able to give you the great news: I'm preggers!
I'm due in April of next year and we are super excited! I think I am more excited than I was the first time since it is the second time around and I am not as scared as I was the first time. This time I know what  to expect and we have a house instead of an apartment to bring baby home to. Also, my little Sunshine is not so little anymore, he's 6 and so excited for the baby to get here. I know he's going to make the sweetest, kindest, and best big brother. He already told me that when the baby cries he will hurry and run to make the baby a bottle. So cute!
I know many of you may ask and so I'll go ahead and answer: we ARE going to find out the sex of the baby. Of course it would be wonderful if we have a little girl since I am currently outnumbered by all the boys, but I am also used to boys and whatever God blesses us with would make us happy. It will be a product of the love that we have and a blessing. We are just so happy that we are able to have another baby when there are so many women who can't.
Also, I'm excited to make some maternity clothes, something I've never made before, but just like my last pregnancy, most of the clothes will be clothes that I can wear during my pregnancy and after. Last time I was pregnant I didn't buy any maternity clothes except for a pair of jeans and 1 pair of shorts, besides that I just bought shirts & dresses that had stretch and that worked just fine.
So far I feel great, I haven't had any morning sickness and I haven't really had nausea. I did have bit of nausea when I walked into very smelly houses or bathrooms because as soon as I became pregnant I turned into a bloodhound. All smells are magnified and I can even smell things that my husband and son can't smell. I am also not having any yearnings for fast food. Makes me queasy thinking about McDonald's, Burger King, and Jack in the Box. So far I am craving fruit like crazy, especially grapes and watermelon, and ceasar salad with ceasar dressing. I have to have them every day. I have been drinking tons of water and also orange juice. With my first baby I craved Starbucks Caramel Frappuccino's with extra caramel every day. Now? I don't even want coffee. Also, I didn't exercise at all with my first baby. I didn't even know I could, so of course I will keep up my running as much as I can and my weight training this time around. I don't want to gain excess weight. Last time I gained 55 lbs, this time I hope to keep it at a healthy 25-30 lbs.
So there you go ladies & gents! Our family is expanding and we are so excited. I am so excited! I can't wait to get my baby bump and feel the baby move. Hubby is so excited, he kisses my belly and talks to it. I am so excited for him to feel the baby move.
Anyways, I hope ya'll have had a wonderful couple of weeks, I'll be back soon posting my outfits of the day! Especially since school starts Monday and I have to get all dolled up whether I want to or not! lol.
I leave you with just a few pictures from our trip:)

Men's Shirt Pattern: McCall's M6044

I bought this gorgeous mint fabric for my hubby (@Joann's) about a month and a half ago, and it has been sitting there for that long (I know, sad) before I picked it up and decided to finally make him a shirt. It is the first men's shirt that I have ever made and I am going to make a lot more. Seriously this pattern, McCall's M6044, is easy. It's simple in its directions and even in the markings that you need to put on the fabric. The only place I had some trouble with during the sewing process was putting the sleeve on the underarm because the sleeve is wider (due to ease) and so you have to ease it into the shoulder. Besides that, it's easy-piesy! The pattern has 5/8" seam allowance and it doesn't tell you to surge so you don't need to have one. I did serge and I flat felled whenever I could, like on the shoulders. It took me all day to sew it with some off and on breaks here & there. But, hubby loved it and my son wanted one too so he chose a red gingham fabric that he wants for his shirt.
M6044
The pattern has five different designs (or ways) to make it. I made shirt B (the one that is all one solid color). I also opted to not put a button right on the collar stand or a buttonhole. It looked nicer. Plus, to make it easier, I also didn't add a button or buttonhole on the cuff because 1. My husband always rolls up the sleeves and 2. I didn't have time. It was midnight on Saturday and he wanted to wear it Sunday morning. I added 7/8" buttons because I thought it would give them a more Summery feel and a uniqueness that you don't really find in men's shirts.
Here are the pictures! Let me know what you think! Hubby and I loved it:)

And here is what I wore:) Of course, I've worn it before but it is one I made and posted about HERE. I added a lace cami under, a vintage baby blue belt, and my bright yellow w/white polka-dot wedges that I got at Shriek in Houston, TX a few years ago. The orange beaded earrings (made of tiny, tiny beads clumped and braided together) are vintage.

By the way, hubby and I just celebrated our 6 yr wedding anniversary! How awesome is that?! So happy! I just love this man. He truly is my best friend and my soul mate:)
